4 Tips to Increase Social Media Engagement

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

I will be 100% honest: social media is the worst. But, in the world of online sales and relationship-building, it is also one of the best ways to build brand awareness! It can also be frustrating because a lot of it is trial and error - not everyone gets to go viral overnight.

Let's jump right in!

Tip #1 - Create shareable content

Utilize your branding to make cute graphics (even memes!). What are the issues facing your audience or the niche you have chosen? Can you give them "Three Tips to Gain More Coaching Clients" or "Five Ways You Can Cut Your Food Budget in Half"?

I like to post about being a small business owner in general, because that is more relatable for my followers who are not jewelry makers...and it makes it more likely to get shared and saved by non-followers!

Tip #2 - Start conversations with others

Engage with your audience AND other accounts on the platform. If you see content you love, drop a comment!

Instagram rewards time spent on the app, and talking to your followers gives them a glimpse at the "real you." Plus, the more time your followers spend engaging with your content, the more it is shown to them!

Branding + consistency are your best friends online!

Tip #3 - Write shorter captions

Long captions used to be the way to get your audience engaged, but trends are showing that is not the case anymore.

Instead of a long caption, turn it into a carousel post (see what I did there?). This also helps your content easier to share and more likely to be saved.

Tip #4 - Batch your content

Don't have time every day to post? Not many people do! Block out 1-2 hours a few times a week to batch content. Then all you have to do is post it! Not sure where to start? Canva has tons of great templates for you to use - for free!

Social media can be overwhelming, so don't forget to take breaks to avoid burnout. Chasing a specific follower account is a good way to write your goals, but it should not come at the expense of your mental health!

You can do it! Confidence is half the battle.
