My Top Podcast Recommendations

Before 2020, I HATED podcasts. I actively loathed the idea and process of listening to one or multiple disembodied voices talking about life, culture, history, etc.

I know, I know, I was wrong.

Now, I have a bunch of shows that I cycle through. I hope you find them entertaining and engaging!

Because I take creative inspiration from the things that I watch, read, and listen to, these podcasts are great sources! Not to mention they are helpful when I am feeling creatively stuck, and need something to shake me out of my funk.

Business & Entrepreneurial Podcasts

The Journal

I love this podcast because it takes one news item and makes it digestible. Topics range from finance to politics to sports and beyond!

My favorite episode: Because they put out five a week, I don’t remember them all! I will say that they make even boring subjects like inflation interesting, and that is a sign of true talent.

Dare to Lead with Brene Brown

Brene Brown is one of my favorite humans (I have read all her books, of course!) and her podcast Dare to Lead is fantastic. Learn from different leaders - of all shapes and sizes - and listen to amazing conversations about everything from business to Hollywood.

Humanity & Psychology Podcasts

Unlocking Us with Brene Brown

I couldn’t mention Dare to Lead without also including Unlocking Us! I love hearing Brene’s warm, thoughtful interviews - it feels like I am actually there!

Shrink Chicks

Hosted by two Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Shrink Chicks tackles therapeutic topics that are accessible to those both inside and outside of the healing profession.

Just For Fun Podcasts

You’re Wrong About

A beautifully empathetic look at events that we have misremembered, for whatever reason. From global disasters to moral panics, this podcast is a refreshing look at what it means to be human.

My favorite episode: their five (5!!!!) episode series on Princess Diana.

You Are Good

“A feelings podcast about movies.” Enough said.

My favorite episode: Scrooged (one of my favorite Christmas films!).

Conspiracy Theories

I AM NOT A CONSPIRACY THEORIST, but man, these episodes are addicting. Yeah, a lot of the theories are absolutely insane, but many of the hisotrical events that are discussed are fascinating.

My favorite episode: two episode series on journalist Dorothy Killgallon.
